A single-pylon cable-stayed road bridge with an asymmetric stay arrangement, designed for fast erection over a live waterway.

Challenge

Cross the river with minimal disruption to boat traffic and no temporary works in the channel.

Action

The single A-pylon carries an asymmetric fan of stays, letting the deck cantilever out from one bank. Steelwork was detailed in Tekla and delivered as fully bolted segments.

Result

Deck closure was reached three weeks ahead of programme, with the channel open throughout.
